Stolen Plates Racks Up Traffic Tickets: Northbrook PD Blotter
The license plates were stolen from a car dealership in the 1500 block of Skokie Boulevard, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
POSSESSION OF STOLEN LICENSE PLATES

Bernard S. Cardenas, of Chicago, is accused of two counts of felony possession of stolen license plates, and was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Jan. 11, at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. A court date of Jan. 13 was assigned.
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Jose A. Martinez, of Highwood, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, defective front windshield, no front license plate, and was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Jan. 11, at Willow and Sunset Ridge roads. A court date of Feb. 24 was assigned.

THEFT
The staff of a car dealership in the 1500 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 10:53 a.m. Jan. 10, someone had stolen one of the dealer plates from their office. They noticed the license plate missing when they started receiving automated speeding and red-light tickets. They said the person must have attached it to their vehicle and was committing traffic violations.
RETAIL THEFT
The staff at a fitness facility in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 11:37 a.m. Jan. 10, a female had come in and signed in as a guest. The female then proceeded to walk around their café and clothing for sale for two hours. At one point, the female was seen putting some clothing near her bag, but never bought it. After the female walked out, the staff reviewed the surveillance footage. The female was seen concealing the clothing and walking out without paying.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
Police saw a 2013 blue Nissan that was wanted for fleeing and eluding by the River Grove Police Department at 12:52 p.m. Jan. 10, at Pfingsten and Grace roads. When the officer stopped the vehicle, he started to walk up to the driver's door. Just as he got to the door, the driver fled. The officer stated the fleeing vehicle got up to 83 mph in a 35 mph zone. The vehicle never stopped for the officer as it fled out of Northbrook.
PHONE SCAM
A Somerset Lane resident reported at 10:59 a.m. Jan. 13, receiving a phone call from a person acting as her bank representative. The person convinced her that something was wrong with her account and asked for her credit card numbers. The complainant gave him all of her credit card numbers, driver's license information and social security number. When she realized the call was a scam, she contacted her credit card companies. They advised her $12,000 of fraudulent activity was on her cards.
