Suspicious Car Flees Cops At Parking Lot: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police said the same vehicle had been clocked at 100 mph earlier while eluding Wilmette Police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
A Northbrook resident is accused of speeding, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 11:44 a.m. Sept. 1, in the 500 block of Dundee Road. A court date of Sept. 18 was assigned.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT
David E. O'Brien, of Northlake, had an active warrant out of McHenry County for failure to appear in court, and was arrested at 11:21 a.m. Sept. 3, in the 1400 block of Landwehr Road. He posted bond and was released.

ATTEMPTED FLEEING AND ELUDING
Edwuin Javier Ortiz-Arellano, of Elgin, is accused of attempted fleeing and eluding an officer, failure to use a turn signal, improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Sept. 3, at Dundee and Sanders roads. A court date of Oct. 12 was assigned.
SPEEDING
A Glendale Heights resident is accused of speeding, and was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Sept. 6, at Waukegan Road and Kamp Drive. Police said the driver was traveling at 76 mph in a 45 mph zone. A court date of Sept. 21 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 3800 block of Medford Circle reported at 10:23 p.m. Sept. 1, that she had left the house for approximately four hours in the evening. When she returned, she noticed someone had smashed the rear sliding glass door and burglarized the house. The complainant didn’t know how many items were missing.
FRAUD
A Maple Avenue resident called police at 12:54 p.m. Sept. 2, to report someone gained access to his saving's account and transferred money into an unknown PayPal account.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
A citizen called police at 2:05 p.m. Sept. 4, to report they saw a suspicious vehicle driving through a parking lot in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. The people inside the vehicle appeared to be looking at various cars in the lot. Police found the vehicle and stopped to speak to the occupants. The vehicle fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The same vehicle was seen by the Wilmette Police Department traveling in excess of 100 mph. It was later learned that a vehicle in that same parking lot had its catalytic converter stolen around that same time period.
RETAIL THEFT
- The staff at a hardware store in the 1000 block of Willow Road reported at 12:43 p.m. Sept. 4, someone stole a box of work gloves without paying.
- The staff at a clothing store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 1:21 p.m. Sept. 4, to report someone stole several pairs of shoes without paying.
