Wescott Teachers Participate in "Caroling for Kentucky" Tornado Victims
On December 16 and 17 before and after school, Wescott School teachers and kids were "Caroling for Kentucky" on the circle drive, while they accepted monetary donations for the victims of the recent rash of tornados that traveled through six states last week, causing the most damage in Kentucky. Staff members also had bins to collect optional donations to help the victims.
The Wescott School PTO's Helping Hands Committee and teachers coordinated this fundraiser to help raise money to send to the tornado victims in Kentucky to aid in the process of rebuilding lives and livelihoods!
Wescott teachers Sharon Latek and Courtney Sislow brainstormed the idea of this fundraiser as representatives of the PTO’s Helping Hands committee. With Principal Dr. Chris Brown’s support, each day different teachers in the building were welcome to sign up to carol.
"We’ve raised about $1000! We plan on donating directly to the fund on the governor of Kentucky's website, https://secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/Finance/WKYRelief ," said Ms. Sislow.
The Wescott School Helping Hands committee includes PTO members Grace Zheng and Randi Wesolowski, and teachers Courtney Sislow, Sharon Latek, Rachael Jennings, Xenia Stamoudis, Tracy Bahn, Nikki Rohn, Andrea Manning, Kathryn Schmeckpeper, and Sylvia Gochis. Co-Presidents are Kerry Moore, and Nisa Rajan
