Whiskey Thief Busted At Home: Northbrook Police Blotter
The Northbrook woman had been given a "No Trespass" order for previous thefts at the store, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SPEEDING
Bryam F. Zhumi Lituma, of Chicago, is accused of speeding (75 mph in a 45 mph zone), and was arrested at 7:05 p.m. July 10, at Dundee and Sanders roads. Lituma was given a court date of Aug. 17.

RETAIL THEFT
Inga Jackson, 46, of Northbrook, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 9:26 a.m. July 13, at a business in the 1100 block of Church Street. The manager of the store said his staff noticed a woman in the store who had been previously given a No Trespass Order due to past thefts. While watching her, the woman stole a bottle of Seagrams 7 whiskey without paying. The officers responded to the woman’s residence and spoke to her. The stolen bottle was found empty in her possession. Her court date is set for Aug. 17.

- An Anthony Trail resident reported at 6:22 p.m. July 7, a temporary visitor of hers borrowed her credit card but never returned. The complainant said there has been over $3,000 of unlawful charges applied to the stolen credit card.
- A person called police at 3:40 p.m. July 11, to report that while using an ATM at a drive-thu in the 4200 block of Dundee Road, she was approached by someone. They asked her to cash his check in the amount of $1,600 The complainant took the check and pulled $1,000 (the maximum amount allowed from the ATM) from her account. She gave the individual the money and he walked away. The complainant later learned the check was fraudulent. The complainant described the individual as a male with a tattoo of the Chicago Bulls insignia on his neck and was last seen wearing a “Gucci” fanny pack across his chest.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Farnsworth Lane reported at 6:05 p.m. July 11, three bicycles were stolen from the front of their residence during the early evening hours. One of the bicycles was described as a blue and black Ancheer Electric Mountain Bike.
SUSPICIOUS CALL
A Farnsworth Lane resident called police at 2:14 p.m. July 8, to report he received a suspicious call from someone claiming to be a Northbrook police officer. The unknown caller advised the complainant he needed to pay him money via pre-paid cards. It was found to be fraudulent.
THEFT FROM AUTO
- A person said that when they returned to their vehicle on July 9, they noticed the gas gauge lower than when they had left it in the 1100 block of Antique Lane. It was determined that someone stole an estimated four gallons from the vehicle’s gas tank.
- Three vehicles — a white Toyota Prius, 2005 Honda CR-V, and gray 2009 Toyota Prius — had their catalytic converters stolen between July 9-10 while parked overnight in a business parking lot in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard.
- A person in the 2600 block of Techny Road reported at 9:30 a.m. July 13, she came out to her vehicle after leaving it parked overnight and noticed someone stole the catalytic converter.
- A person called police at 11:48 a.m. July 14, to report she returned to her vehicle after it being parked overnight and noticed someone had stolen her catalytic converter.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
A resident in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 8:10 p.m. July 9, someone illegally dumped chairs and bags of garbage in the dumpsters for her building.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A person called police at 8:12 p.m July 9, to report they parked their vehicle in the parking lot before entering a business in the 1900 block of Old Willow Road. When he returned, he noticed his black 2018 Buick missing. The complainant utilized the vehicle’s in-vehicle security system to locate the vehicle and lock the ignition. The vehicle was found in Chicago. Chicago Police Department assisted with the recovery of the vehicle.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident in the 2300 block of Maple Avenue reported at 5:18 p.m. July 11, a man attempted to gain entry into her residence through the front door. When he was unsuccessful, he walked to her garage door and attempted to gain entry, but was unsuccessful. He left in a white Chrysler LeBaron convertible. The man is described as 60 years of age with white hair, a white t-shirt and khaki shorts.
TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
Two separate victims reported at 7:51 a.m. July 11, someone gained entry into their behicles during the overnight hours and rummaged through the center consoles and glove boxes in the 300 block of Chipili Drive. Nothing appeared to be taken.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A person called police to report that between July 7 and July 12, someone broke several windows throughout a building in the 1300 block of Techny Road.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO AUTO
A resident in the 300 block of Forestway Drive reported at 12:53 p.m. July 12, after receiving an alert from his security camera at approximately 4 a.m., he reviewed the footage of someone trying to break into his vehicle. He said the footage showed a male wearing a dark-colored hoodie and bright red pants pulling on the door handles of the vehicle. Since the vehicle was locked, the offender was unable to gain entry.
RETAIL THEFT
A staff member of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 1:03 p.m. July 12, to report two men stole several pairs of shoes. The offenders fled in a vehicle, that was believed to be a white Nissan.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A Dundee Road resident reported at 3:36 p.m. July 12, they received emails from an unknown person that was requesting her to transfer money to them. The complainant mistakenly transferred over $400,000, which she later found to be fraudulent in nature. She contacted her banking institution to stop the transaction.
BURGLARY TO AUTO
A resident of the 700 block of Lexington Court called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 12, to report someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in front of the house. The offender stole approximately $3 in change.
