Willowbrook Fifth-Graders Reach Out To Seniors

Students from Glenview's Willowbrook Elementary School recently participated in a special intergenerational project with senior residents.

NORTHBROOK, IL —Betsie Onsrud, a fifth-grade teacher at Glenview's Willowbrook Elementary School, recently had her students participate in an intergenerational project with senior residents at Covenant Living in Northbrook. The project focused on "Lives Well Lived," named after a new film.

According to Onsrud, Meave Foley, an assisted living specialist at Covenant, reached out with the intention to connect the children with senior residents, especially during this challenging time.

"My students were already working on a project that focused on life in the 1930s," Onsrud said in a press release from Northbrook/Glenview School District 30. "Other classes were working on their parts, which included patriotism and hobbies of the 1940s."
