$1 Million Bond For Driver Accused Of Causing I-57 Crash That Paralyzed Man

A Country Club Hills man faces charges in connection to a 3-car crash near the I-80 ramp.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL -- The man prosecutors allege was responsible for a three-car crash on Interstate 57 last week that left a man paralyzed has been ordered held on $1 million bail, according to a report from the Daily Southtown.

Jason Ollarvia, 42 of Country Club Hills has been charged in connection with the crash. Prosecutors say at least four other drivers on Interstate 57 near the Interstate 80 merger at the time told police that they saw Ollarvia’s silver Ford Focus speeding and weaving in and out of traffic around 9:35 a.m. last Tuesday.

Ollarvia’s car is said to have struck a grey Dodge carrying a married couple. A male passenger in the Dodge is now paralyzed below the waist, according to the Southtown report. The woman suffered torn ligaments, a knee fracture and a hematoma.

When the Dodge was hit, it struck a blue Nissan that flipped on the shoulder according to prosecutors. The Nissan driver is believed to have suffered broken ribs and a laceration that required 15 stitches.
