2 Oak Forest Businesses Fail Tobacco Checks
A Circle K and 7-Eleven are accused of selling tobacco to minors as 19 businesses were compliant.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Two Oak Forest businesses failed a round of tobacco compliance checks held by the Oak Forest Police Department on Wednesday. The businesses, Circle K at 5600 W. 159th St. and 7-Eleven at 14717 Central Ave., could be fined anywhere from $200 to $500 for selling tobacco products to minors during the check, which police say is the third and final one associated with the city’s 2016-17 “Kids Can’t Buy Them Here” program.
In the check, underage persons worked with police in an undercover operation by going into 21 Oak Forest stores that sell tobacco and attempt to purchase a tobacco product with identification that shows they are under 18 years of age.
Identification was provided from the youth agents when requested at each of the businesses surveyed, according to the city.
