District 228 Mourns the Loss of Fine Arts Supervisor Keith Anderson
Mr. Anderson received numerous awards during his career

Bremen Community High School District 228 and the entire school community lost a valued member and leader with the passing of Mr. Keith Anderson, our District Fine Arts Department Supervisor on Saturday, January 7. Mr. Anderson was employed in the district for 23 years.
During his tenure with D228, Mr. Anderson worked as a band director, music teacher and Fine Arts Department Supervisor. Prior to starting his career with us, he was employed at Lincoln Elementary School in District 147. He had also worked as Department Chairperson at Corporate/Community Schools of America.
Mr. Anderson’s professional music career included working with both the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra and the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra. He also spent time as a drummer for R & B recording artists The O’Jays, The Dramatics, The Chi-lites, and the Free Street Theater in Chicago.
During his career in education Mr. Anderson received numerous awards including the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. He also received the “Y” award from the YMCA, and the Vision Quest Award for Outstanding Achievement, presented by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. He also offered his expertise by working with many organizations.
Over the years, he served as Illinois District 1 President for the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA), as a guest speaker and panelist for the Conference Board’s Annual Business/Education Conference and the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Committee on the Improvement of Teaching as a Profession, and as a facilitator for the Foundation for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Illinois.
Superintendent Kendall said, “It is with great sadness that the Bremen District 228 family mourns the loss of Mr. Keith Anderson and the void he leaves behind. We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Anderson's family.”
