Driver Ejected From Vehicle, Killed In I-57 Crash: Illinois State Police
The crash happened just before midnight Sunday night, police said.
HARVEY, IL — A driver died after being ejected from their vehicle in a crash on I-57 in Harvey late Sunday night, Illinois State Police said Monday.
State police initially responded just before midnight Sunday to I-57 northbound at 147th Street, for a reported hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian and an abandoned Chevrolet Tahoe. Police on scene determined the pedestrian to be the driver of the Chevrolet.
The driver is believed to have been ejected after the Chevrolet struck the wall and was declared dead at the scene, state police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday identified him as Lamar J. Lee, 38, of Chicago. His cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force trauma from a motor vehicle striking a fixed object, with ejection from vehicle. His death was ruled an accident.
Lanes closures were in effect while troopers investigated, but at approximately 3:47 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
