DUIs in Palos Heights: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, March 10–15.

SUNDAY, MARCH 15

DUI

Francis B. Sanders, 26, of the 9300 block of South 87th Avenue, Hickory Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, driving without insurance and making an improper turn after a March 15 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Sanders at about 2:57 a.m., for turning left from the median lane rather than the left turn lane in the 6700 block of West 127th Street, the report stated. During the stop, police determined Sanders had been driving under the influence, the report added.

At the station, Sanders took a breath test, and her blood-alcohol content registered over the legal limit, the report stated.

Sanders was held on $1,000 bond, and her court date is April 2.

FRIDAY, MARCH 13

DUI Drugs
Rani Rafati, 22, of the 8600 block of South Meade Ave., Burbank, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and improper lane use after a March 13 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Rafati at about 12:15 a.m. for making a left turn into the oncoming-traffic turn lane in the 12900 block of South Harlem Avenue, the report stated. The officer reported that Rafati showed signs of being impaired by marijuana, the report added.

At the scene, Rafati failed field sobriety tests and was taken in to custody, the report stated.

Rafati was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is April 16.


DUI

Catherine Wawrzycki, 23, of the 14900 block of Hale Drive, Orland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper lane use and possession of drug paraphernalia after a March 13 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights reports.

Police pulled over Wawrzycki at about 3:29 a.m., for traveling on the raised median and crossing over the solid white line in the 14900 block of Hale Drive, the report stated. Wawrzycki showed signs of being intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests at the scene.

Police also found drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol while making an inventory of Wawrzycki’s vehicle, the report stated.

Wawrzycki was held on $3,000 bond, and her court date is April 2.

THURSDAY, MARCH 12

DUI

James L. Miller, 25, of the 7700 block of Lockwood Avenue, Burbank, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, improper lane use and speeding after a March 12 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police observed Miller crossing over the double yellow line at about 2:30 a.m., in the 12700 block of South Harlem Avenue, as well as clocking him going 52 mph in a 35-mph zone, the report stated. Miller showed signs of being intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests at the scene, the report added.

At the station, Miller took a breath test, which registered a blood-alcohol content more than 0.08, which is the legal limit, the report stated.

Miller was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is April 24.


DUI

Santos Rojas, 27, of the 5000 block of West 159th Street, Oak Forest, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving without insurance, failure to wear a seatbelt and improper lane use after a March 12 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Rojas at about 8:10 p.m., after seeing he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and had driven up and over the raised median in the 12400 block of South Harlem Avenue, the report stated. Rojas showed signs of being intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests at the scene, the report added.

Police also found an open container of alcohol inside Miller’s vehicle, the report stated. At the station, Miller took a breath test, and his blood-alcohol content registered over the legal limit, the report added. sample over the legal limit.

Miller was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is April 24.

TUESDAY, MARCH 10

DUI DRUGS

Nathan D. Black Jr., 20, of the 3900 block of West 71st Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, speeding and improper lane use after a March 10 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police clocked Black going 50 mph in a 35-mph zone, as well as observing him crossing over solid white line, at about 2:32 a.m.,n the 13000 block of South Harlem Avenue, the report stated. At the scene, Black failed field sobriety tests and was taken in to custody, the report added.

Black was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is April 24.
