Shots Fired on I-57 Closes Roadway For Hours

All lanes of Interstate 57 were closed between 127th Street and Sibley Boulevard for hours Wednesday as police investigated a shooting.

CALUMET PARK, IL - All southbound lanes of Interstate 57 near 127th Street in the Blue Island-Calumet Park area were closed for hours Wednesday as police began to investigate a possible shooting on the highway.

WGN-TV traffic reporter Sarah Jindra tweeted a photo then showing police activity closing all lanes between the ext and Sibley Boulevard, where the shots are alleged to have originated. It was later determined that shots were fired at several vehicles but no one was injured.

A Fox 32 Facebook Live video indicates the expressway was closed as a result of shots fired in the area near 147th Street. Several cars were hit by gunfire but no one was injured, according to an ABC-7 Chicago report.
