Oak Forest HS Science Team Takes SSC Science Championship
Oak Forest won an amazing fourteen 1st Place Medals, five 2nd Place Medals, two 3rd Place Medals, and four 4th Place Medals

Congratulations to the champion members of the Oak Forest High School Science Team, who took 1st Place at the 2018 SSC Science Competition, held at Tinley Park High School.
Oak Forest High School Science Coach Matthew Spreadbury said, “As a team, we earned 1st place with 42 points; Lemont got 2nd with 24 points, and Reavis got 3rd with 23 points.”
Oak Forest won an amazing fourteen 1st Place Medals, five 2nd Place Medals, two 3rd Place Medals, and four 4th Place Medals. Students who were named as All-Conference Science Students were: Anthony Breidigan, Kim Burghard, Audrey Cooper, Sarah Florek, Lynette Latocha, Meghan O'Keefe, Jeffrey Taylor, Matt Taylor, and Agustin Tilca.

Individually, the students did very well in the competition. First place winners were: Anthony Breidigan in Egg Drop and Forensics; Kim Burghard in Forensics; Audrey Cooper in Insect ID and Ecology; Sarah Florek in Qualitative Analysis; Lynette Latocha in Bridge Building; Meghan O’Keefe in Science Bowl and Forensics; Jeffrey Taylor in Science Bowl and Forensics; Matt Taylor in Forensics; and Augustin Tilca in Ecology. Second place winners were: Saivonna Francis in Qualitative Analysis; Nikita Gajjar in Paper Airplane; and Andrew Stack, Dennis McGinty, and Ryan Jerozal in Mousetrap Car. Third place winners were: Sarah Florek in Anatomy and Physiology Exam. Fourth place winners were: Briana Alarcon in Water Purification; Saivonna Francis in Anatomy and Physiology Exam; Ariel Torres in Water Purification; and Andrew Rosales in Chemistry Exam.
The Science Team sponsors are Oak Forest High School teachers Matthew Spreadbury and Susan Magrames.
