Oak Forest Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Girl at 2013 Teen Party

The girl, who was 16, began to experience psychological problems after the alleged assault, according to a prosecutor.

Oak Forest, IL — An Oak Forest man was charged with criminal sexual assault for an incident that allegedly occurred at a party three years ago, prosecutors said.

Daniel O’Callaghan, 21, appeared Thursday afternoon before Cook County Judge Peter Felice for a bond hearing.

Prosecutors said the alleged abuse happened sometime in June 2013. O’Callaghan, then 18, was a guest at a party in the 14800 block of Ridgeland Avenue, Oak Forest, hosted by a then-16-year-old female acquaintance when her father wasn’t at home.

The high school sophomore and O’Callaghan knew each other prior to June 2013, when they had kissed twice and engaged in oral sex, prosecutors said.

According to the charges, O’Callaghan and the girl went to a bedroom where they began kissing. As he began removing his clothes, the girl said she did not wish to have sex.

The prosecutor said the girl told him a second time that she did not want to have sex with him, when O’Callaghan told her to shut up and climbed on top of her.

The girl said she could not move while O’Callaghan was allegedly on top of her. After several minutes of sexual intercourse, the prosecutor said a witness walked into the room.

O’Callaghan and the witness both left the party together.

After the incident, the girl, who is now 18, began to experience psychological problems, the prosecutor said. The prosecutor said the girl told several people about what happened but did not report it to Oak Forest police until 2015.

The delay between the time of the report and O’Callaghan’s arrest on June 22 was due to a lengthy investigation by Oak Forest police as they tried to locate witnesses who had attended the party, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that O’Callaghan has not had any trouble with police over the past three years.

Felice set O’Callaghan’s bail at $100,000 and ordered O’Callaghan not to contact the young woman should he bond out.

O’Callaghan is due back in court July 15 in Bridgeview.
