Resident Detains 19-Year-Old Car Burglar After Catching Him in Vehicle: Prosecutor
Oak Forest man was found rummaging in car, prosecutor said.

A 19-year-old man out on bond was detained by a resident after he was found burglarizing the resident’s car, prosecutors said in court.
Manuel Alejandro, of Oak Forest, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on charges of burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
The prosecutor said that Alejandro was caught removing money from a parked vehicle in the 15000 block of LaPalm Drive, Oak Forest, on Oct. 17. The resident found Alejandro inside the vehicle and held him until Oak Forest police arrived.

Police also found an alprazolam pill in Alejandro’s pocket, the prosecutor said.
Alejandro is currently out on bond for a pending domestic battery charge. Judge Felice set bail at $30,000 for the bond violation until his next court appearance on Oct. 19.

He is to be released on a $25,000 I-bond and placed on electronic monitoring for the new charges pending the outcome of his hearing on the other case. Alejandro is due back in court on Nov. 8.
