Seat Belt Violators Cited During Midlothian Police Crackdown

A crackdown on drunk driving resulted in dozens of seat belt citations over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL -- The Midlothian Police Department's crackdown on drunk driving over the Fourth of July holiday weekend did not result in any DUI arrests, but hundreds of other citations were made during the traffic enforcement campaign.

Midlothian police released the following numbers via the Midlothian Police Department Facebook page this week.

• 149 seat belt citations

• 3 child seat citations

• 1 arrested for driving with a suspended license

• 12 speeding citations

• 70 unlawful use of cellular device citations

• 6 various moving violation citations

• 27 no insurance citations

• 1 Fugitive from justice arrested

Police embarked on the enforcement campaign through a grant funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
