The homeowner opened the door thinking it was a relative, when he encountered a man holding a piece of lumber, Cook County police said.

COOK COUNTY, IL – A Chicago man on federal probation for bank robbery broke into a home in unincorporated Stickney Township, where he hit two residents with a piece of lumber, Cook County Sheriff’s Police said. Alexander Villamil, 35, is charged with home invasion, a class X felony.
Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s police responded to a home invasion in the 7100 block of West 74th Street, where two residents had reportedly been assaulted. Officers were provided with a description of a suspect. A man was found inside the home intoxicated, sheriff’s police said.
Detectives learned that the 66-year-old homeowner answered the front door, believing it was a relative. Instead, the homeowner encountered a man, later identified as Villamil, holding a piece of lumber.
