Passers-by at scene of 4-car accident in Burbank on Tuesday afternoon pulled a 1-year-old child from a vehicle that was on fire.

BURBANK, IL — A four-vehicle accident sent three people to the hospital, including a child, Tuesday afternoon in Burbank. Passers-by pulled the child out of one of the vehicles that was on fire. The involved vehicles have been removed and traffic is back to normal on 87th Street, Burbank police said.

The accident happened at 4:24 p.m. on 87th Street, east of Merrimac Avenue between Melvina and Narragansett in Burbank. One of the vehicles, a Nissan Sentra, was reported to be on fire. Burbank firefighters quickly extinguished a small engine fire in the Nissan after passers-by pulled a 1-year-old child out of the car.

A citizen's video showed the badly damaged Nissan that had apparently been struck from behind and pushed into the vehicle ahead of it. The car’s engine was on fire. The three people in the Nissan were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.
