43 Sex Offenders Call Oak Lawn Home: 2022 Safety Map
A combined 48 registered sex offenders are listed as living in Oak Lawn and Hometown, 43 of whom are classified as sex predators.
OAK LAWN, IL — Forty-three registered sex offenders are calling Oak Lawn home, a gain of four registrants from 2021, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry. Of the 43, one is incarcerated, and six are non-compliant for failure to maintain accurate records; 39 are classified as sex predators.
Persons convicted of felony sex crimes involving children under age 18 as well as adult victims are required to annually register their addresses with the local law enforcement agency in accordance with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act. The same rules apply to out-of-state sex offenders who move to or work in Illinois, as well as students attending a state college or university.
Around Halloween, Oak Lawn police visit the homes of registrants and remind them of the rules and regulations affecting registered sex offenders in Illinois that bars them from passing out candy to trick-or-treaters or leaving their home dressed in costume.

Police confirm addresses, place of and/or changes in employment, and vehicle registration, including make, model and license plate. Any changes in the aforementioned, state statutes require registered sex offenders to notify their local police department.
As for monitoring the village’s registered sex offenders’ activities on Halloween (Oct. 31), police keep their activities for that day close to the vest. As in past years, Oak Lawn's registered sex offenders never know if police will show to make sure they're complying with state laws and statutes.

Hometown has five registered sex offenders. Three are classified as sex predators, two of whom living in the community, the other is incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to public records.
