Back The Blue At Oak Lawn's National Night Out
Oak Lawn police and fire departments invite residents to come out for National Night Out, Aug. 6, featuring demos, tours, K9s and more.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Police and Oak Lawn EMS-Fire--Rescue have a full slate of activities planned for National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Enjoy demonstrations by the police K-9 unit, and rescue and fire. Tour the police station (maybe see the jail if no one is in there) and meet Oak Lawn’s first responders. The FREE event will be held at the Oak Lawn Municipal Center, 9446 S. Raymond Ave.
The list is still being finalized based on the availability of staff, but here are some National Night Out activities tentatively planned for Aug. 6, including:
- SWAT equipment for kids and adults to see and suit up
- Evidence technician demonstrations
- Tours of the lock-up (jail) facility
- K9 demonstrations
- Child ID (fingerprinting of children)

Since 1984, police departments and communities across the United States have held National Night Out events on the first Tuesday in August. More than 38 million neighbors in 16,000 communities throughout the nation will participate in National Night Out, promoting public safety and building community.
