OAK LAWN, IL — Bail was denied for a Chicago man tied to a shooting last week at an Oak Lawn motel, police said. Howard Williams, 24, was charged with one count of attempted murder. He appeared Sunday for a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.

The evening of Sept. 28, Oak Lawn police responded to a “shots-fired” call at the Miami Motel, 9041 S. Cicero Ave. Officers found an 18-year-old woman lying in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police started administering medical aid to the woman, who was then taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

A description and license plate of the vehicle said to be carrying the alleged shooter, was broadcasted over the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network. Oak Lawn police worked with other law enforcement agencies and were able to utilize data from electronic devices and the recently installed Flock license plate readers.
