Service continues as a big part of US Navy JROTC at Richards

Students enrolled in the U.S. Navy JROTC program from Richards High School volunteered last week to help organize the pumpkin patch at First United Methodist Church in Oak Lawn.
“They helped offload pumpkins for the pumpkin patch. They unloaded a semi-trailer full of pumpkins and had a great time although it was pretty exhausting,” said Chief Petty Officer (ret.) Dennis Reynolds, who manages the JROTC program with CDR (re.t) Doug Groters.
Service comprises a big part of participating in JROTC at Richards. Students volunteer annually at
Feed My Starving Children, clean up Wolf Wildlife Preserve, organize a 9/11 remembrance, and help at many other worthy causes.
