Family Starts GoFundMe For Mother and Son In Sunday's 4-Vehicle Crash
Family is trying to raise money for the mother's funeral and medical expenses for her son, who is fighting for his life at Advocate Christ.
OAK LAWN, IL — The family of Anita Chacon has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her funeral expenses, as well as medical expenses for her son, 30-year-old Tomas Chacon, following Sunday's horrific car accident in Oak Lawn.
Anita and Tomas had spent the evening together before their Lincoln was hit by a speeding Dodge Charger from behind and forced into the lane of oncoming traffic near 110th Street and Cicero Avenue early Sunday morning. The Lincoln was hit head-on by another vehicle, killing Anita and critically injuring Tomas, who is fighting for his life at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

The driver of a Honda Accord, also driving at a high rate of speed, left the roadway and hit a bench, causing the car to roll over several times until it came to a stop in a parking lot. The drivers of the Dodge Charger and Honda Accord have since been charged with felony aggravated DUI causing death and reckless homicide.
The family has set a fundraising goal of $20,000. Anita Chacon lived in Calumet Park.
