Good Times Roll At St. Linus's 'Hawky Tonk Festival'

St. Linus is hosting the first-ever Hawky Tonk Festival May 5, featuring live music, food and spirits. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Get out your best urban cowboy and cowgirl gear and saunter over to the first-ever Hawky Tonk Festival Saturday, May 5, at St. Linus School in Oak Lawn. The fest runs from 7 to 11 p.m. on St. Linus’s football field. Hawky Tonk is open to adults 21 and older. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.

Local favorites Suburban Cowboys headlines the evening. Music lovers are invited to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of live entertainment, raffles, food, and drinks. Covered tents with seats for all will be available. The fest also features a Whiskey Tasting Bar, Moonshine Bar, cigar bar, food fare from local eateries and mechanical bull rides.

VIP Early Bird Tickets are currently available through April 27 for $35 per person and include admission, food and alcoholic beverages. After April 27, VIP tickets are available for $40 each. Admission excluding food and drinks is $20 per person. No outside food or drinks are allowed. Tickets are also available for purchase on-site for food and beverages.

Suburban Cowboys is one of the most sought-after country cover acts in the Midwest. Headlining 100-plus shows annually, Suburban Cowboys have performed at venues such as Joe's On Weed Street in Chicago, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar, Country Thunder, and various fairs and fests.

Money raised from Hawky Tonk will benefit the St. Linus School Fine Arts program, which has grown tremendously through the assistance of various school-sponsored fundraisers. Over the last three years, St. Linus has added an all-encompassing music program for grades K-8, with the hiring of a music teacher, and the purchase of instruments for an entire classroom. In addition, a new Junior High Theater program was added last year with students performing Godspell!, and this year, Aladdin. St. Linus also added a Spanish program for all grades, as well as made improvements to technology with the addition of ipads and Brightlinks boards in all classrooms.

Tickets for Hawky Tonk can be purchased on EventBrite. Cash or check (made payable to St. Linus) is also welcome at the school office or at the Church rectory. St. Linus School is located at 10400 South Lawler Ave., Oak Lawn.
