Hometown Man Accused Of Displaying Handgun In Ongoing Neighbor Dispute: UPDATE

UPDATE: A Hometown man is facing charges after police said he displayed a gun in an ongoing dispute with a neighbor.

HOMETOWN, IL — A Hometown man is facing charges after a dispute with another neighbor, prompting police to send an emergency alert to residents to remain inside their homes.

Around 5:10 p.m., Hometown police sent out an alert advising residents to stay inside in the 4600 block of 88th Street and 88th Place. The location was later updated to the 4500 block of 88th Street and 88th Place.

Deputy Chief Joseph Hoenselaar, of the Hometown Police Department, told Patch that the dispute between the two neighbors has been ongoing. On Monday afternoon, the two had words when one of the pair allegedly displayed a handgun.

“The person who displayed the firearm didn’t want to cooperate with police and locked himself inside his house,” Hoenselaar said. “He eventually came out.”

Just after 6 p.m., Hometown police issued an all-clear for the 4500 block of 88th Street and 88th Place.

The man was taken into custody and has been charged with aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday morning at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
