ISP Conducting Roadside Safety Checks Friday At 95th Street Toll Plaza
Illinois State Police will be conducting roadside safety checks Friday, Aug. 26, on I-294 in the Oak Lawn 95th Street Tollway.

OAK LAWN, IL — Illinois State Police will be conducting roadside safety checks Aug, 26, on the I-294 at the 95th Street Toll Plaza in Oak Lawn. The time of day is a surprise.
As we head into Labor Day, the last weekend of summer, area law enforcement will be patrolling the streets and roadways looking for drivers exhibiting signs of impairment or distraction.
Officers working the detail will be watching for people operating cars in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked license, transporting open alcoholic beverages and most importantly:

- Driving under the influence (DUI)
- Safety belt and child restraint use
- Speeding - Distracted driving
- All Illinois Vehicle Code and Criminal Violations
Alcohol and drug impairment factor in more than 30 percent of fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois and throughout the United States, nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving. Roadside safety checks designed to keep roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
