Mooyah Burgers Celebrates Aug. 29 Grand Opening with Free Fries, School Fundraisers

Receive a free order of fries with any order all day Saturday and support four great local schools.

Mooyah Burgers, Fries and Shakes is planning its first school fundraisers for the restaurant’s official grand opening on Saturday, August 29.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Saturday, guests will receive free fries with their orders, whether it’s for a full meal or a drink or a decadent jelly-doughnut shake.

In addition, mention your favorite school when placing your order -- Columbus-Manor, Harnew, St. Gerald or St. Linus -- and 25 percent of guests’ purchases will be donated back to that school.

“We’ve been in Oak Lawn our entire lives and want to give back to the community,” Kal Mohamed said. “We wanted to include schools in our celebration. We’re a family-owned, family friendly business and this is our way of helping schools out at the beginning of the school year.”

Also in the works is a fundraiser for Kohl Elementary School. Mooyah Burgers will also be participating in the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn’s Fall Fun Fest on Sept. 27.

Mooyah Burgers is available to host fundraising nights and events for any school, parish, church or youth sports team throughout the year. Organizers can stop by the restaurant or register online. Mooyah can also provide marketing materials to schools, places of worship and other organizations to help promote your “Mooyah night.”

The restaurant opened last month. Kal Mohamed said for several weeks after its opening the restaurant was in the top ten of the 80 stores in the company. Kal Mohamed said the Oak Lawn location has quickly built repeat customers. Knock on wood, Yelp reviewers have given the Oak Lawn franchise 4.5 out of 5 stars, according to Kal.

Kal and Sam Mohamed have a deal to develop ten Mooyah Burger restaurants in the south suburbs over the next ten years and have already started construction on a Joliet location.

Mooyah is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The restaurant is located in the Shops of Oak Lawn shopping center at 6256 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn (near Jason’s Deli and Francesca’s).
