Mr. Krickl's Garage Haunt Recreates Haddonfield, IL On Halloween

Billy Krickl's beloved haunted garage attraction returns for one day only this Wednesday on Halloween in Oak Lawn.

OAK LAWN, IL -- It has become an Oak Lawn Patch tradition to feature Billy Krickl’s haunted garage on Halloween. The village’s resident haunted garage guy is planning another attraction to antagonize the neighborhood yewts -- and this year, we think Mr. Krickl just may surpass himself. The one-day only haunt runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10520 S. Kildare in Oak Lawn, and includes one of his legendary garage walk-throughs that's full of scary surprises.

Past Halloweens, Mr. Krickl has piled 80 bales of hay into his garage to form a hay maze, lunged at 3-year-olds from a cage dressed as Michael Myers, and conquered his own fear of clowns by staging “Krickl’s Karnevil." Since 2011, we’ve heard the screams of young children blocks away on Halloween.

This year Mr. Krickl is recreating Haddonfield, IL, hometown of Michael Myers, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the original Halloween. The haunt asks the philosophical question: "What is the boogeyman?" He has a few new tricks up his sleeve, so those neighborhood wise guys better watch it.

Kids have been hanging around outside Mr. Krickl's garage on Kildare the past few weeks, trying to figure out what he’s up too. Past years have attracted 800 to 900 trick-or-treaters. In 2017, the Krickls’ handed out 1,200 pieces of candy. If you live on the other side of Cicero Avenue, Billy Krickl’s haunted garage is worth driving your kids over to see. Every neighborhood needs a Mr. Krickl. And, a certain little chihuahua-Yorkie mix will be making her debut as the Taco Bell Dog.
