New hardware for national champion Eisenhower dance team

Cardinal Dance Team, which won the Dance Team Union national championship last spring, from Eisenhower High School has enjoyed a fruitful summer at both the group and individual level.

CDT won first place in the Team Showcase at the DTU camp hosted by Robert Morris University. The team also won the Total Package Team Award, Rap Battle Award, and the Captain Routine Excellence Award.

Eisenhower seniors Cristian Carrillo and Kiarri Smith won the Dancer of Excellence Medal and Staff Choice Award.

The team’s success continued at the Universal Dance Association camp, which Eisenhower hosted, in late July.

Varsity won second place for its Home Routine, the Superior Trophy, Team Full Out Award, and Spirit Stick.

For the second year in a row, Smith won Drill Down Queen. Carrillo, Smith, and Dejanira Torres earned All-American honors and the opportunity to travel to London to perform with others who qualified for the same recognition.

The junior varsity Cardinal Dance Team won first place in Home Routine and the 110% Trophy. Isabella Jalomo and Valeria Medina were named All American Dancers and thus qualified to perform in Philadelphia.
