New Times Set For Oak Lawn Independence Day Parade And Post Parade Concert
The Oak Lawn Independence Day Parade steps off at a new time Saturday, June 27, down 95th Street, followed by a free concert.

OAK LAWN, IL – New times have been set for the Oak Lawn Independence Parade and post-parade concert.
This year’s parade will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27. The festivities will continue on the Village Green next to the Oak Lawn Public Library, where residents can enjoy an afternoon of music and patriotic activities.
“The Independence Day Parade is a highlight of our summer, bringing together the energy, creativity, and community spirit that make our village special,” Mayor Terry Vorderer said. “As our nation marks its 250th anniversary this year, it’s a meaningful time to reflect on our shared history and come together to celebrate as a community. I’m excited for this year’s parade and grateful to everyone who helps carry this tradition forward.”

The parade route begins at 95th Street and 49th Avenue, proceeding westbound to 95th Street and 55th Court.
The 95th Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to noon between 95th and Cicero Avenue and 95th & Central Avenue for parade operations.

The parade will showcase a variety of engaging participants, including a performance by the Oak Lawn Community High School marching band, appearances by beloved Chicago mascots, as well as contributions from local businesses, places of worship and community groups. This year's parade will feature:
- Chicago White Sox Mascot - Southpaw
- Twirling Bears & Bearettes
- Uncle Sam Stilt Walker
- Chicago Blackhawks Mascot - Tommy Hawk
- Bringing Out Talent Dance Company
- The Weinermobile
- Big City Dixieland Band
- Members from the U.S. Army and Marines
Following the parade, everyone is invited to continue the festivities with a free concert at the Village Green Gazebo, next to the Oak Lawn Library. The afternoon will feature the band Rockology Chicago performing from 12:30 p.m.to 2:30 p.m.
In addition to live music, attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including:
- Face painting
- Balloon tiwsters
- Food vendors offering delicious local specialties
This event brings the whole community together to celebrate our nation’s independence with family, friends, and neighbors. We look forward to seeing an even bigger turnout as we mark this milestone with patriotism, pride and hometown spirit.
The village will be teaming up with the Oak Lawn Park District on a spectacular fireworks display Saturday, July 4, at Richards High School, 106th Street and Central Avenue. The fireworks blast off at dusk.
