Not-so-Sweet Ex-Boyfriend Suspected of Putting Sugar in Gas Tank
The driver told police her ex-boyfriend had threatened her car.

A woman called Oak Lawn police April 8 from the TCF Bank parking lot on South Cicero to report she believed her ex-boyfriend had put sugar in her gas tank.
The woman told police she is having problems with her ex-boyfriend, and she had previously reported him for harassing her and battering her, according to Oak Lawn police. She said her ex had threatened her car.

While driving to buy a locking gas cap, the woman said the car sputtered, and she smelled an odd odor. She parked in the TCF lot, but her car wouldn’t restart. A mechanic advised her it sounded like someone may have put sugar in her gas tank, but the exact problem was unknown, police reported.
The woman arranged for a tow, and Oak Lawn police gave her a ride home and told her to contact police if there were any further issues with her ex.

The woman’s ex was listed as a suspect for the criminal property damage, but no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
