Oak Lawn Spartan Thompson Has Best Game In SCC Conference Title
Oak Lawn Community High School's Isaiah Thompson's two clutch free throws help deliver SCC Conference title for boys basketball team.

OAK LAWN, IL — In arguably the most important game of the season for the Oak Lawn Community High School boys basketball team, senior Isaiah Thompson came up with his best performance all year. On Jan. 26, he scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, and had three assists to push the Spartans to a road win over TF South in Lansing that clinched the South Suburban Conference Red championship.
His two clutch free throws with less than a minute to play in the game helped the Spartans secure their first conference title since 1983. It was a monster moment for this terrific teammate, and it helped to earn him honors as a Spartan Athlete Spotlight player for the week.
“We ask Isaiah to do a lot for our team, and he answers the bell every time,” head coach Jason Rhodes said. “Playing his best basketball of late, Isaiah serves as our primary ball handler, is second on our team in assists and minutes played, rebounds the ball well for a guard, and is an excellent perimeter and interior defender.”

With Thompson playing so well down the stretch, the hopes are high for even more glory this season. Only time will tell if the Spartans can do some damage in the Illinois High School Association Regional that will be held in Spartan Gymnasium on Oak Lawn’s home campus later this month.
