Karen was welcomed into our Lords loving arms on Sunday, Aug 6th 2017, at Loyola hospital due to complications from lung cancer with family members by her side. She was born on February 17, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Oak Lawn, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy Schwenkel (d. 1999), her father Raymond H. Schwenkel (d. 2013), her loving companion Joseph Doyle, and her dear brother Steve Schwenkel. Karen will be remembered for living life on her own terms and having a big heart and fun laugh. She went to Mother McCauley High School and Richards graduating in 1976 and went on to attend Loyola University. She had a career in accounting and bookkeeping. Her passions included reading books and watching sports. The Cubs and Blackhawks were her teams, as well as the fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She always had a great memory and loved to share stories, offer cooking tips, and hear new stories about her grandkids. Karen is survived by her siblings, Jerry Schwenkel, Sue (Ray) Olson, Diane (Kevin) Glynn, and Tom (Joann) Schwenkel, along with many nieces and nephews. Karen is also survived by her birth daughter Susan (Bryan) Lutes and grandkids, Addy and Brody. Private services will be held.
