Sisters Host Benefit Saturday For Cousin Battling Cancer

Sisters are hosting a benefit Saturday, Sept. 10, for their cousin Emily DiPierro, to offset medical costs at The Sock Bar in Hickory Hills.

HICKORY HILLS, IL — Sisters Lisa DiPierro and Jennifer DiPierro-Miller are hosting a fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 10, for their cousin, Emily DiPierro, to offset some of her medical expenses. The fundraiser runs from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Sock Bar and Grill, 9300 S. Roberts Road, Hickory Hills.

Emily started experiencing terrible back pain last Christmas. After seeing her doctor, she was referred to an oncologist. A large mass was confirmed and believed to be ovarian cancer. During surgery in February, however, the tumor was removed. It was determined to be stage 4 uterine cancer.

“Emily is a fighter,” her cousins wrote on GoFundMe. “After months of chemo treatments and working remotely taking precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been stressful balancing work and life, and she has suffered financially. We hope to help relieve some of the financial burden.”
