BURBANK, IL -- St. Laurence High School has tapped a lifelong Oak Forest resident to lead the school’s lacrosse program. Charley Sopko brings over 25 years of coaching experience to his new role as head varsity boys lacrosse coach.

Sopko is a graduate of Illinois State University, where he was first introduced to lacrosse. Sopko has played an integral role in growing the game in the Southland area, having started the Oak Forest Fury youth program and also launching the lacrosse team at Bremen High School District 228. He served as director and coach of both programs.

“I’m excited and humbled to be a part of the St. Laurence family,” Sopko said in a news release. “I am looking forward to working with these fine student-athletes to further develop their lacrosse skills and to build on the success of the program.”
