Tomorrow could be one of the most memorable days in recent memory that is the Trump political career. As many of us look on and millions of voters who may be undecided, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is leading many to believe that he plans on charging the former president of the United States with “an indictment against Trump for allegedly falsifying business records to hide campaign finance violations tied to payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels by one-time Trump fixer Michael Cohen.” NYPD preparing for possible indictment of former President Donald Trump in Manhattan DA investigation - CBS New York (cbsnews.com)
Former Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr focused on the Trump companies according to a 2021 article by Reuters “After an almost three-year investigation of Trump’s property dealings, the initial charges by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr will focus mainly on whether Weisselberg and other company officials received corporate perks and benefits, such as rent-free apartments and leased cars, that were not reported properly on their tax returns, according to several people familiar with the investigation.” Mr. Wisselberg did plead guilty and is currently serving 5 months at Rikers island for tax fraud from the 2018 indictment so perhaps the DA feels they have some traction in producing some dents in what seems to be “Teflon Don”.

Republican presidential candidates are discrediting this effort as purely political persecution. The first to come out was Vivek Ramaswamy a newcomer to the field who stated in an interview with Fox News Digital on Monday that "I think it would be a national disaster if he [Trump] were indicted on these politicized prosecution grounds and I do not want to see that happen because I think it would be bad for this country. I think it would take a very long time to re-earn, if ever, the trust that we would lose in our justice system, even in our electoral system, if that happens."
Democrats are looking for that final kill shot to keep Trump from being a contender for the Republican nomination for president in 2024. In December of 2022 Senate Democrat leadership did caution pursuing a former president Trump in regard to the January 6th hearings. A Hill article dated December 21st, 2022, stated “While members of the House Jan. 6 select committee are ramping up pressure on federal prosecutors to indict Trump, Senate Democrats are taking a more cautious approach, with some arguing there’s a “high bar” for prosecuting a former president.” Maybe leadership knows once they open that pandora’s box they all are subject to future legal situations? The real question is why is this happening now? Is it because we are on the verge of a financial reckoning that seems to keep happening every 14 years this century? Is it because international affairs are not going according to plan coupled with a 100 billion investment? Is it because crime continues to spiral out of control and this is a good distraction? Why does a district DA think they can get a conviction on a former president of which has never happened before? Is it safe to say that if this does come to pass tomorrow or in the near future what would be the difference between the US democrat party walking a political opponent in handcuffs to say Vladmir Putin who has conducted himself in the same manner?
