Fast 6, Star Trek and More: Lake Theatre Movie Times

Looking to see a movie? Here's the latest shows at Oak Park's Lake Theater, as well as other nearby theaters.

Looking to see a movie this weekend? If you're in the Oak Park area, check out Classic Cinemas' Lake Theater.

Featuring a $6 matinee for shows before 6 p.m., a collection of movies that many national theater chains are playing and the old-timey experience of going to the movies, Lake Theater offers a lot to like.

Playing This Weekend (May 30-June 2)

Fast & Furious 6 (PG-13) returns the crew of this franchise, which features fast, and often furious, cars.

Star Trek: Into Darkness (PG-13) is the sequel of this re-vamped sci-fi franchise. The crew of the Enterprise is called home but runs into an unstoppable force.

Now You See Me (PG-13) is about four illusionists pulling off heists on corrupt business leaders. Their greatest trick (OK, I mean illusion...tricks are something a ... well, never mind) is robbing a bank on stage. It looks entertaining, but their boldest move is probably naming the movie "Now You See Me." What if no one does?

Epic (PG) has Beyonce, so go see it. A teen girl finds herself in a mysterious universe and must fight to save her world.

The Hangover III (R) completes the drunken trilogy starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis. This looks like it has promise to be funny, but I'm still a bit hungover from the first one.  Star Trek Into Darkness (PG-13) is the sequel in the new series of Star Trek films, with the crew meeting an "unstoppable force of terror" on the way home.

The Great Gatsby (PG-13) stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the iconic partyboy in the roaring '20s. Reviews are pretty poor, but what I'm most interested in what people think about using director Baz Luhrmann's name as a verb, as in, "He really Luhrmanned this movie," which means he made it overly flashy but lacked substance. But hey, maybe that style fits with Gatsby.

Iron Man 3 (PG-13) returns Tony Stark as our hero, now fighting back from having his world destroyed. The film supposedly asks, "does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?" My guess is the movie says it's the man, my money is on the suit. Because that's an awesome suit.
