Oak Park To Crack Down On Massage Parlors: Report
After a prostitution ring was busted this summer, Oak Park officials want to take action.

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park is looking to crack down on massage parlors after a prostitution bust that took place in August. At a recent village meeting, trustees proposed tougher requirements for licensing and tighter operational regulation by the village.
The proposed ordinance would add new language to the village's Business Licensing policy that would require proof of state licensing, logs of services, and a prominent display of rates of service. Additionally, the ordinance would require that the business maintain clear glass on its façade so the waiting room can be visible from the outside.
Village trustees also want to require that an inspection take place twice a year to make sure all regulations are being met and to help prevent any illegal activities from taking place on-site.

In August, several Oak Park police officers posed as clients in a prostitution sting that led to licenses being revoked from three area massage parlors.
All trustees seemed to support the ordinance and moved for its adoption at Monday's meeting, but opted to wait so the public could have ample notice. The ordinance may be adopted at the October 16 village meeting.
