Teens Ram Into Car, Steal It When The Driver Pulls Over To Check For Damage: Oak Park Police

Three or four teens in a white SUV rear-ended and stole a 2012 Dodge Durango in the 400 block of block of Ontario Saturday.

OAK PARK, IL — A woman's vehicle was stolen in Oak Park after it was rear-ended by a white SUV Sunday afternoon, according to Oak Park Police. The vehicle theft took place in the 400 block of Ontario at approximately 2 p.m.

The victim told police she was driving her black 2012 Dodge Durango northbound on Ridge and preparing to turn west onto Ontario when her vehicle was struck from behind by a white SUV. Police said the woman then pulled to the curb and exited her vehicle to inspect the damage. She told police a black male teenager with a thin build, standing about 5'9" tall, exited the SUV and approached her.

A second offender, described as a black male in his early teens, allegedly got out of the backseat of the SUV and got into the driver's seat of the victim's Durango. Police say the first offender then got back into the SUV and both vehicles fled the scene. The victim told police that one or two other teen passengers may have been in the white SUV at the time.

The woman's iPhone 5 was in the car when it was stolen. The estimated total loss is $35,500.

This is the second incident in which a car was rear-ended and then stolen in Oak Park. Two men reportedly rear-ended and stole a Mercedes-Benz in the 1100 block of Euclid on June 22.
