67-Year-Old Man Dead Of Gunshot In Orland Park: Police

Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner say preliminary reports indicate the wound was self-inflicted.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A 67-year-old man was found dead in a parkway in the 17000 block of Bernard Drive Sunday afternoon, and Orland Park police said a preliminary investigation shows the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police responded to the incident at 12:51 p.m. Sunday.

An autopsy conducted Monday by the Cook County Medical Examiner indicates the preliminary cause of death to be suicide, according to police. A final autopsy report is pending.

Orland police said the weapon used in the incident was located and there is no threat to public safety.

The victim's identity is being withheld as the his family makes notification to other relatives.

The incident is the second gun-related apparent suicide reported by Orland police since Friday, when a 25-year-old man was found dead in a pond near 157th Street and 76th Avenue.
