Man Facing Orland Gun Charge Jailed When He Misses Court: COPS

Chicago man facing gun charge was excused from electronic monitoring to attend court in Kentucky for allegedly bribing public official.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Chicago man placed on electronic monitoring after Orland Park police found a gun tucked in his waistband last month during a traffic stop is back in jail after he missed a court appearance, prosecutors said. Quincy Sizemore, 22, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.

Orland Park police pulled Sizemore over for an alleged traffic violation on Oct. 11. Officers noticed a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun sticking out of Sizemore’s waistband and a gram of cocaine in his car, prosecutors said. Sizemore was allowed three days to travel to Louisville, KY, to appear in court where he has been charged with bribing a public servant.

Sizemore was due in back in for a court appearance Nov. 2 on the Orland Park charges but reportedly missed his court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse. The public defender told Cook County Judge Peter Felice that Sizemore’s driver’s car broke down and had to be towed. Sizemore booked a flight home.

There was some argument between the assistant public defender and Felice about whether the flight had been booked in Louisville or a connecting flight to Atlanta, GA. Sizemore’s bail was revoked. Sizemore is due back in court Nov. 16 in Bridgeview.
