Markham Man Snatches Away Woman's Cell Phone at Orland Mall, Tries to Steal Another But Gets Punched in the Arm: Police
The cops found the stolen cell phone in the man's underpants, police said.

A Markham man snatched away a young woman’s cell phone at the Orland Square Mall and tried to steal a second one but was thwarted by his victim and punched in the arm, police said.
Mell Green, 23, stole the cell phone from a woman who was kind enough to let him make a call on it, police said. She “dialed a number for Green and let Green use the phone. Green then ran out of the mall into the parking lot with the phone.”
In the parking lot, he allegedly went up to a woman who was getting into her car, grabbed her by the arm and demanded her phone.

“Green had his left hand inside his jacket and said he had a gun,” according to police. When (the woman) still didn’t give up the phone, Green told (her) that he would blow off her head.”
Green and the woman struggled for the phone and she “punched Green’s arm as” a second woman “ran around the back of (her) car from the passenger door,” police said. “Green then ran off” and as he departed, called out,“You’re lucky. I could’ve blown your brains out.”

Officers reportedly found Green “attempting to climb a hill which is between (the) upper and lower level (of) Sears,” police said. They had Green “come down off the hill” and he “appeared to be out of breath and breathing heavy.”
After Green was taken into custody, officers found the stolen phone”in the fly pocket of Green’s boxer briefs,” according to a police report.
“Green advised he did not know the phone was in his underwear,” police said.
Green was charged with attempted aggravated robbery, unlawful restraint and theft.
