Sentencing Delayed For Orland Man On Criminal Sex Assault Charge
Bond was revoked and sentencing delayed for real estate mogul Gregory Perkins, 48, who was picked up for DUI, prosecutors said.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Sentencing for an Orland Park real estate developer who pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault was postponed Wednesday when prosecutors said he picked up a DUI charge. Cook County Judge John T. Gallagher revoked bond for 48-year-old Gregory Perkins, who is now being held in Cook County Jail.
The Orland Park man pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal sexual assault last month. Perkins and the victim had gone out with a group of friends for an evening of dinner and drinks on Jan. 28, 2017, according to testimony at his bond hearing. When the victim became incapacitated after a few drinks, prosecutors said Perkins drove her back to his home in the 13700 block of Legend Trail Lane in Orland Park. The victim said she woke up later that night to Perkins sexually assaulting her.
Perkins has remained free on a $10,000 bond and has been on electronic monitoring for the past five years. He is being represented by Sam Adam Jr., who in 2017 described Perkins as a "pillar of the community involved in lucrative business deals."

A Hodgkins police report obtained by Patch showed that Perkins had crashed his Rolls-Royce Wraith in the 7000 block of LaGrange Road. The report said the car had heavy front end damage and was facing northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic. Both the front and side airbags had been deployed. Perkins, the sole occupant of the car, was found bleeding and unconscious, officers said.
Once Perkins had regained consciousness, officers said his speech was slurred, his eyes watery and bloodshot, and there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. When he regained consciousness, officers asked Perkins where he was coming from, who stated “the bar” and was on his way home, according to the police report.

A witness told police that he was merging on to I-55 from LaGrange Road, when he saw a Rolls-Royce traveling south on LaGrange at a high rate of speed, officers said. The car lost control and struck the far left median, followed by the far right median. When the witness stopped his car and saw that the driver, later identified as Perkins, was unconscious, he called 911.
Perkins was taken to AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center LaGrange, where the cuts on his head were cleaned and bandaged, police said. Just after 3 a.m., Perkins was read his Miranda warning. The officer, who interviewed Perkins at the hospital, said Perkins explained that he had spent the evening at his home in Orland Park. He was dropping a friend off at her house and was on his way back to Orland Park when the accident happened, the report said.
Perkins also claimed he was taking medication, but the officer said Perkins’ speech was “unintelligible” and he was unable to understand the name of the medication Perkins said he was taking. While he was being treated at the hospital, police said Perkins consented to having his blood and urine taken for chemical analysis. Perkins provided blood, but stated he did not have to urinate at that time, police said. The results of the blood analysis were not included in the report.
Perkins was discharged from the hospital and was brought back to the Hodgkins police station, where police said he began to leak blood through his bandages. According to the report, Perkins was treated by paramedics, and signed a consent form stating he did not wish to go back to the hospital.
Police said Perkins was released on an I-bond five hours after the accident. He was provided with a cab ride home.
On Wednesday, Gallagher revoked Perkins’ bond for “non-compliance.” Perkins remains in Cook County Jail, and a new sentencing date has been set for March 30 in Bridgeview.
