ORLAND PARK, IL — Free, and by special Forest Preserves of Cook County permit, on Saturday, March 28 from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Orland Grassland Volunteers will lead a night hike along Birdsong Trail at Orland Grassland Land and Water Reserve, FPCC.

The parking lot will be locked at 7 p.m. From the parking lot on 167th just west of La Grange Road, the group will head west into the sunset, turn south along the trail and hopefully hear American Woodcocks and then proceed east over a high hill, Kwadekik, where Chicago city lights may be seen. The hike ends back at the parking lot where hot beverages and treats will be served.

"Stunning sunsets followed by savanna silhouettes at dusk and then the evening sky are Tallgrass Prairie experiences that are unique," said Pat Hayes, Site Steward. "There are sights, sounds, smells, and an evening calm that treat the senses."
