1 In Custody For Car Hijacking At Gunpoint In Boulder Hill: Sheriff

Detectives continue to search for a second individual involved in the Jan. 15 incident in unincorporated Kendall County.

OSWEGO, IL — One person is in custody and a second is being sought in connection to a car hijacking that happened Jan. 15 in Boulder Hill, authorities said.

Ronnell Binion, a 21-year-old of 178th Place in Country Club Hills, was taken into custody by the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Indiana after a vehicle pursuit that started following an incident in the 0-100 block of Seneca Drive, according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

The man is facing one count each of aggravated vehicular hijacking, vehicular hijacking and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Deputies were able to track the car using license plate readers. Once it was located in Indiana, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the Lake County Sheriff's Office to investigate and secure charges, according to Undersheriff Bobby Richardson.

"It is also imperative we have a good, strong partnership with our community which gives the victims of crime a level of trust and a willingness to work with investigators to bring cases like this to a quick resolution," he said in a statement.

The car had been listed for sale on an online marketplace and was stolen at gunpoint in the unincorporated Kendall County subdivision, Patch reported. The suspects contacted the seller, made arrangements to see the car in the 0-100 block of Seneca Drive and then brandished guns before stealing it, police said.

The car was later recovered in Lake County, Indiana, located just across the border with Illinois.

Detectives are seeking a second individual, partially identified as "Clarence," in connection to the investigation. Officials said the man is believed to be from the Chicago area.
