D308 To Host Forum To Share Input On Superintendent Search
Also happening tonight is an informational meeting to give District 308 parents details on the upcoming trip to Washington D.C.
OSWEGO, IL — As Oswego Community Unit School District 308 searches for a new superintendent, they're involving locals in the process by hosting a forum Wednesday night.
Current Superintendent John Sparlin, who has served in the role for seven years, announced in December he would retire at the end of the current school year.

The Open Community Forum to discuss progress made in finding Sparlin's successor will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Old Post Elementary School, 100 Old Post Road. At the event, guests can share feedback and guidance with the firm, School Exec Connect, hired to lead the search.
For those who can't attend, district officials launched a survey online. It will be open to students, parents and staff until Sunday.

Wednesday is a busy night for meetings in District 308. In addition to the forum, organizers will host an informational meeting to discuss the trip to Washington D.C. for eighth graders happening in spring 2024.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Traughber Junior High School, 570 Colchester Drive. Those who can't attend but are interested in the excursion can contact co-facilitators Michael Linden and Marcia Carino at oswegotodc@gmail.com.
Each spring, a group of teachers organizes a trip to D.C. where students visit the country's capital, see the sites and learn history. After a two-year hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, the trip made its comeback in 2022, Patch reported.
