Man Charged With 8 Counts Aggravated DUI After Crash Kills 1

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego man has been charged with eight counts of aggravated driving under the influence after a car crash that killed one man in Fox Township Nov. 21, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Oscar Cano, of the 400 block of Hackney Lane, was driving west on Millhurst Road around 6:32 p.m. when his car crashed into another driven by 38-year-old Robert Gray, going north on Millington Road, police said. Gray, a resident of Somonauk, died at the scene, Patch reported.

Cano and a 34-year-old passenger were both ejected from the car and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved charges against Cano and issued a warrant for his arrest Nov. 24, following additional investigation by detectives at the sheriff's office.

On Monday, the Oswego man was taken into custody at the Kendall County Public Safety Center on four Class 2 felony charges of aggravated DUI causing death and four Class 4 felony charges of aggravated DUI causing injury. He is being held on a $500,000 bond, with 10 percent to apply.
