More Objections Filed in Oswego Election; Candidate Wants Panel Member Removed
Electoral board to reconvene Jan. 5.

An Oswego village board member and village president candidate on Monday is trying to get a member removed from the village’s electoral board amid numerous objections to candidates for the April 7 election.
An attorney for Terry Michels, who filed the objections based on questions over the petition filing deadline, is seeking to remove Judy Sollinger from the panel, saying she notarized the petitions of three of the candidates facing objections, Only Oswego reported.
Solinger reportedly notarized the petitions of trustee candidates Karin McCarthy-Lange, Ryan Kauffman and Joe West. Michels is objecting to their nominating petitions, along with the petitions of trustee candidates Brian Thomas and Rasma Motykowski and fellow village president candidates Gail Johnson and Tony Giles.

Michels and trustee candidate Diane Selmer filed their petitions by the Nov. 24 deadline for non-partisan elections. The remaining candidates believed they had until Dec. 22 to file — a deadline that was incorrectly listed in candidate election packets.
If the electoral board rules in favor of Michels, only he and Selmer will appear on the April 7 ballot.

Selmer and Michels are also facing challenges to their petitions filed by trustee candidate West.
The electoral board is slated to reconvene at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5.
