New Parking Restrictions To Be Enforced On School Days In Oswego

Parking restrictions will be enforced in five neighborhoods and business districts within a one-mile radius of Oswego East High School.

OSWEGO, IL — New parking restrictions within a one-mile radius of Oswego East High School will take effect on school days, officials said.

The Oswego Village Board voted Aug. 23 to amend Ordinance 9-4-10 to restrict parking in specific neighborhoods and business districts around the high school, at 1525 Harvey Road, to "alleviate parking concerns and ensure Oswego residents have adequate parking during school hours," according to police.

The school day restrictions will be in place between 7 a.m. and noon in five zones:

  • Prescott Mill, which includes Townsend Drive, Devoe Drive (unless otherwise posted), Chapin Way (unless otherwise posted), Parker Place, Foster Drive, Baker Court, Hawley Drive, and Valentine Way within the Prescott Mill Subdivision.
  • Highlands Business Park, which includes Treasure Drive from Harvey Road east to U.S. Route 30, and Mitchell Drive within the Highlands Business Park.
  • Odgen Falls/Brighton Meadows, which includes Meadows Court, Treasure Drive west to dead-end, Essex Avenue, Crystal Court, Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge Court, Raintree Drive, Sparkle Court, Loreen Court, Sunshine Court, Half Moon Court, Yoakum Boulevard east of Loradale Road, Waterbury Circle, Wingate Drive, Wingate Court, Primrose Lane, Mandy Lane, Alex Court, Christian Court, Dylan Drive, Bridgeview Drive, and Ogden Falls Boulevard within the Ogden Falls and Brighton Meadows Subdivisions.
  • Churchill Club, which includes Millersburg Street, Pimlico Street, Yoakum Boulevard west of Loradale Road, Loradale Road, Leesburg Street, Hutchison Street, Furlong Street, Woodford Road, Preakness Drive, Bluegrass Parkway from Yoakum Boulevard to Fifth Street, Majestic Lane, Silver Charm Drive, McGrath Drive, Dancer Lane, Risen Star Lane, and Chesapeake Lane within the Churchill Club Subdivision.
  • Steeplechase, which includes Steeple Chase Boulevard, Bohannon Circle, Homeview Drive, Queen Drive, Bellevue Circle East, Bellevue Circle West, and Kendall Point Drive from the northern Belleview Circle to Bohannon Circle within the Steeple Chase subdivision.

The rule does not apply to cars that have a zone permit, are registered to an address in the zone, belong to a commercial or business, or are parked for emergency purposes, according to the village.

Applications for a permit — open only to Oswego residents — can be found on the village's website. Only 25 permits, each costing $400 for the year, will be issued per zone.

Police said warnings will be issued to any violates for the first 30 days. After that, a $250 fine will be issued per occurrence.
