No Wrongdoing Found In Misuse Of County Resources Investigation: KCSO

OSWEGO, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Office's investigation into a misuse of resources complaint made against an elected official in Oswego Township has concluded as investigators found no criminal wrongdoing, officials said.

Authorities announced Sept. 13 that they were in the early stages of looking into allegations made by a "concerned community member" against an official who works in Oswego Township or the Oswego Township road district, Patch reported.

The investigation included collecting and analyzing evidence and conducting interviews, according to an update released Oct. 4. Officials said the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the findings and corroborated no criminal laws were violated.

"The trust and confidence in individuals we elect to represent us in office is critical, and there must be accountability if they fail to meet that standard," Sheriff Dwight Baird said in a statement. "Following a thorough investigation into this matter, I'm pleased to say that was not the case in this situation, and no criminal activity was uncovered. It's important to know that we take any allegation of misconduct very seriously and we will thoroughly investigate any such complaint."

Oswego Township occupies a 6-mile square south of the Fox River in the northeast corner of Kendall County. Every Oswego resident lives either in Oswego Township or Bristol Township, according to village officials.
