Savage Resigns, Search Underway For New OEHS Principal
"My goal is to hire a leader that will maintain a positive, strong and stable environment," Supt. John Sparlin said.

OSWEGO, IL – Oswego East High School Principal Scott Savage announced his resignation Tuesday, less than two years after taking the reins at the school. "Although leaving Oswego East so soon was not a part of my immediate career plans, I have decided to pursue a principal position with another school district for the 2017-18 school year," Savage said in a message posted to the OE Wolf Parents Facebook page. Savage was hired just prior to the 2015-16 school year.
Parents reacted to Savage's announcement with a mix of frustration and praise for his work during his time at OEHS. One resident wrote, "It feels like there is a revolving door for principals at OEHS," while another said, "When will OE get a principal that is willing to stick around for the kids?" Others lauded Savage as an "amazing mentor" and thanked him for his service at the high school.
Oswego East has had numerous leadership changes over the past few years. In 2013, Dr. Louis Lee was hired to replace Jeffrey Craig as OEHS principal, only to resign in March 2014 to accept an assistant superintendent position in the Indian Prairie School District. Lee was succeeded by Todd Martens, who was hired in June 2014 and resigned the following December for personal reasons. Savage was then hired to replace Martens.

District 308 Superintendent John Sparlin praised Savage in an email to Patch. "Oswego East High School has had much success both academically and athletically over the past two years while Mr. Savage has been principal," he said. "I wish Mr. Savage continued success in his next role."
Sparlin also said he can assure parents, staff and students that a principal will be in place in time for the 2017-18 school year. The first day of the 2017-18 school year is Aug. 16.
